Global sporting goods retailer Decathlon will continue its expansion within Australia with the opening of its first store in Victoria in the new Home Consortium centre at Box Hill later this year.
The huge 3,800sqm one-stop sports shop will be Decathlon’s second store in Australia. The first store opened in Sydney last December, after setting up an Australian online store initially.
With products for sale related to over 70 sports, the Decathlon brand focuses on quality at competitive prices, aiming to make sport accessible to as many people as possible. Products are reviewed online by customers and their star ratings displayed alongside the item in-store.
The brand originates in France and now has over 1,400 stores in over 40 countries.
Oliver Robinet, Decathlon Australia CEO said; “We are extremely pleased to be expanding our presence across Australia. Building on the success of our website and our first store in Tempe, Sydney, we want to maintain the momentum by opening further stores across Australia. The people of Australia have embraced our brand and we are excited by this.”
Existing tenants Petbarn, Amway and Repco are already operating from Home Consortium Box Hill. Other confirmed retailers for the centre are Kitchen Warehouse and Chemist Warehouse, with further brands to be revealed in the coming months. The centre is due to open late November 2018.
Inside Retail reports since arriving in Australia in 2017 Decathlon has sold over 600,000 items in total to date including sales online.
